My goal with you is to shed light on the monsters in the closet.
A monster in the closet? No, I don't think you're a little kid, but your anxiety may treat you that way. Anxiety has a way of overwhelming us with the fear of the innumerable "what ifs" in our life. It takes the wheel and puts us in a constant state of fight or flight.
But much like a monster in the closet, we spend a lot of time worrying about a danger that isn't real. Just a powerful conjuring of our own consciousness.
Taking back control begins not with jumping into the dark to fight the monsters, but rather taking a deep breath and turning on the light. Converations and practical skills help us remember the power we possess, then reflection and processing help grow a confidence that acts as a spotlight that exposes those looming shadows as the stuffed animals they actually are.
Golf therapy can truly act as a assistant to treatment in multiple ways. The action of moving while talking can allow the conversation to feel mundane and peaceful, not as intimidating as your anxiety would like you to feel. It also works as a release of sorts. No better way to get rid of pent up energy than through a few swings of the driver.
